The fact sheet gives an overview of all the different kinds of uses of the Kentucky coffee trees in the industry for timber use, it provides nesting and roosting spots for the bird species. Due to the tree’s toxic plant parts such as the leaves and raw seeds, there is little wildlife usage as a source of food. Native people believe that the tree has medicinal properties to treat various ailments. The tree has been planted on mine spoils for soil reclamation and stabilization. This pest-free tree is an alternative to ash and elm which have been ravaged by insects and disease.
